Introduction to FTTN

Course Description

This course provides the student with a solid grounding in FTTN technology and VDSL2. You will be introduced to the NBN’s FTTN infrastructure and HSE requirements. You will also gain an understanding of VDSL2 and vectoring. You will examine and understand node location, fibre feed and facility requirements and power up a real 384 port node. You will remove and insert cards into the node check system voltages and observe report and reset alarms. Jumpering on the node is included.

This course provides the field technician with the skills required to do first line maintenance tasks and jumpering on NBN FTTN nodes.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisite requirements for individual units of competency.

Outcome

This course in conjunction with the completed assessment tool delivers the following units of competency:

  • ICTCBL320 - Jumper metallic conductor cable in the access network
  • ICTTEN310 - Remove and replace electronic circuit boards in carrier equipmen
  • ICTTEN302 Install telecommunications network equipment

Classroom based instruction and assessment led by an experienced telecommunications industry trainer.
